trouble shooting

Here will be presented some known bugs, and work arounds. This list will be extended based on your feedback.

general problem solution

Most of the problems can be solved with one of the following steps. (Try them in this order)

  1. Check the warnings and error messages in the output window or the file hotint.log which is located in the application path
  2. restart hotint
  3. delete the configuration file (hotint_cfg.txt)
  4. check paths
  5. download new release
  6. report bug

problems after install of a new version of HOTINT

After installing a new version of HOTINT, problems may occur, due to the fact, that files of the old version are used by the new release. The following steps should resolve these troubles:

  1. uninstall the old version of hotint
  2. delete the configuration file (hotint_cfg.txt) and other files in the old directory
  3. install the new version of hotint
  4. get the new tutorial examples (the old ones may not run anymore, due to changed variables)

model crashes upon loading

  1. Check the warnings and error messages in the file hotint.log which is located in the application path
  2. Close HOTINT, delete the config file, start HOTINT again and load your MBS
  3. Copy your hid-file, reduce the model (delete lines) and load the (reduced) copy. Reduce until crash does not appear again. Probably there is some wrong reference to loads, materials, nodes, elements, geom elements, etc.

HOTINT crashes when I add new objects in the GUI

  1. Check the warnings and error messages in the file hotint.log which is located in the application path
  2. try to add objects directly in script language
